Mex descends from the amazing Durango VDL, who, under Ashley Fleischhacker performs at 1.55m level in the USA. Her half-sister Farona (Baltic VDL) jumps her 1.60m level courses under Daniel Coyle (IRL).
Mex is bred out of the ster-awarded mare Oviera, daughter of Burggraaf x Nabuur x Erdball xx and a full sister of the 1.60m Grand Prix horse Kuno II (rider Niklaus Schurtenberger) and the 1.40m to1.45m level horses Melrik en Naburo.
The Nabuur daughter Elrike is also the great-grandam of the new Westphalian stallion champion, Armstrong (Arezzo VDL).
