ABOUT
Who does not know him? De hengst that fulfilled Nick Skelton’s long nurtured desire: to win the Olympic Games. Big Star was one of the best showjumping horses in the world. “The best horse I ever rode”, says Skelton. They won Olympic team gold in London and individual gold in Rio de Janeiro, after which the stallion was made fully available for breeding.
Big Star is a son of the 1.60m Grand Prix stallion Quick Star. Dam Jolanda (1.35m level) produced another two international showjumping horses: Sim (1.50m level) and Belycette K (1.45m level) and is grandam of the 1.60m Grand Prix horse Uno Cruising K.
From one of his first crops, Big Star jr KZ (Big Star x Polydor) grew into a 1.55m Grand Prix showjumping horse, but a new generation of his products is coming on. For example, his 9-yr-old sons Big Heart Z and Ike have reached international 1.45m level. So far already ten sons of Big Star are approved by several studbooks.
